It is Cerebral Palsy Awareness month! We are so fortunate to serve many kids with CP at the barn!
Cerebral palsy is a neurological condition that affects muscles, movements, and mobility. It is the most common motor disability of childhood. 1 in 323 children are diagnosed with CP in the US and it is estimated that 18 million people worldwide live with cerebral palsy.
Cerebral palsy affects people in a variety of ways, including their ability to walk, verbally communicate, eat, and more.
At HorsePlay therapy, we support our kids with CP by providing them with physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy to help them in functional skills on and off the horse.
How does the horse help a child with CP? Great question! Utilizing equine movement in these therapies can help with facilitating gate movements, engaging core for breath support and speech production, support sensory needs; and so much more! Each of our therapists are skilled in utilizing the horses to help your child achieve their goals.
Now let’s celebrate some of our kiddos with Cerebral Palsy!
